About this part
Genuine MAN big-end bearing shells for the D2840 LE301 and D2842 LE443, in the normal size with a 0.10 mm step. Bearing shells are supplied in a series of sizes because crankshaft journals are reclaimed by grinding rather than replaced, and each shell size corresponds to a specific amount of material removed from the journal. The consequence when ordering is that the engine model does not determine the shell size — the crankshaft does, and specifically what that individual shaft has already been ground to. Fitting standard shells to a reground journal leaves the clearance too large, which is the fastest way to lose the oil film. Read the size stamped on the crankshaft web before ordering. Where the web carries no stamping, measure the journal with a micrometer rather than inferring the size from the engine's paperwork.
Supplied new, in the manufacturer’s packaging, with our warranty of up to 24 months.
