About this part
Genuine MAN crankshaft for the D2842, MAN's 21.9-litre V12 rated up to 800 kW. Most crankshafts that come out of service were not the first thing to fail — the usual sequence starts with oil that has picked up contamination or lost pressure, moves to a bearing shell that wears through, and only then reaches the journal, which the failed shell scores. That matters when ordering, because fitting a new shaft without establishing what damaged the old one tends to produce the same outcome again. Where the journal is scored but sound, the standard repair is grinding to a defined undersize with matching oversize shells rather than replacement. Fatigue cracking from sustained load is the failure that cannot be repaired at all, and a cracked shaft is condemned rather than reground. This number is also available remanufactured.
Supplied new, in the manufacturer’s packaging, with our warranty of up to 24 months.
