Genuine MAN big-end bearing shells in standard size for the D2862 LE463, LE422 and the D2868 LE433. Cleanliness at assembly determines how long a bearing lasts more reliably than anything about the bearing itself. A single particle trapped between shell and housing distorts the bearing surface enough to break the oil film locally, and the resulting damage looks exactly like a lubrication failure. Wipe bores and shell backs dry and clean, handle shells by their edges, keep them in their packing until the moment they go in, and resist the temptation to assemble a bottom end in an engine room rather than on a clean bench. Nothing in a rebuild rewards cleanliness more directly. A bottom end assembled clean will outlast one assembled carefully but in the wrong place.
