Genuine MAN gudgeon pin for the D2868 LE433, the 90-degree V8 rated between 441 and 956 kW. Across a rating range that wide, the load a pin carries at the top end is substantially higher than at the bottom, which is a reason to fit new pins during a rebuild on a heavily rated engine rather than reusing serviceable ones. The cost is small beside the rest of the work, and a pin that has spent years at the upper end of its load range has accumulated fatigue that no measurement will reveal. On a lightly rated engine, a measured-good pin is a reasonable reuse; near the top of the range it is a false economy. Where the engine's rating is not known with confidence, the plate rather than the hull's paperwork is what settles it.
