Genuine MAN cylinder head for the D2862 LE463, LE422 and D2868 LE433. Head gasket failure is the reason most heads come off, and the useful distinction is between a gasket that failed and a head that caused it. A gasket that has blown between cylinders or into a coolant passage may simply have reached the end of its life, or may have been defeated by a head that is no longer flat, by bolts that were reused when they should not have been, or by overheating that distorted the casting. Fitting a new gasket without checking flatness is the sequence that produces a second failure within weeks. A straight edge and a set of feeler gauges cost very little and answer the question before the gasket is bought , and not after it fails.
