Genuine MAN cable harness for the electronic control unit on the D2848 LE422. Harnesses age in ways that produce some of the most frustrating faults on a marine engine: insulation hardens and cracks where it passes over edges, connector seals perish and admit moisture, and individual conductors fracture inside insulation that looks perfect. The resulting faults are intermittent, load-dependent and often temperature-dependent, which makes them extremely difficult to chase with a meter. Where an engine of this age has produced recurring electrical faults that have survived several component replacements, renewing the harness is frequently the step that resolves what nothing else has. It is unglamorous work that cures faults nobody has managed to locate, which is an unusual thing to be able to say about any part, and it is often cheaper than the third control unit bought on suspicion.
