Genuine MAN coolant pump for the D2862 LE463, LE422 and D2868 LE433. Where a pump is driven by gears from the timing train rather than by a belt, its failure mode changes: there is no belt to slip or shed, but a seizure transmits load straight into the gear train behind it. That makes an unusual noise from a gear-driven coolant pump more urgent than the same noise from a belt-driven one, since the consequences extend beyond the pump. Where bearing noise is present, take the engine out of service rather than monitoring it, and inspect the drive gear when the pump comes off. Inspecting the gear when the pump is off costs nothing and identifies damage that would otherwise be discovered much later.
