Genuine MAN fuel pump for the D2842 LE443 and D2848 LE422. This is the low-pressure supply pump — the lift pump — rather than the high-pressure injection pump, and the distinction matters because the two fail differently and cost differently. The lift pump draws fuel from the tank through the filters and delivers it to the injection pump at modest pressure, so its failure starves the expensive equipment downstream and produces symptoms indistinguishable from high-pressure pump wear. Measuring supply pressure at the injection pump inlet is the check that separates them, takes minutes, and regularly saves an unnecessary purchase. A pressure gauge teed into the supply line is inexpensive and turns a recurring diagnostic argument into a reading. Fitting one permanently, rather than borrowing a gauge each time, is worthwhile on any vessel where fuelling complaints recur.
