Genuine MAN speed sender for the high-pressure pump on the D2842 LE443. A speed sender reports rotational speed to the control system, and on the injection pump drive it provides the timing reference the fuelling calculation depends on. A failing sender produces symptoms that look mechanical — erratic running, a loss of power, a refusal to start — while everything in the fuel system is sound. Because the sender sits in a demanding position for heat and vibration, and because its signal depends on a small air gap to the trigger wheel, checking the gap and the connector is worthwhile before anything is dismantled. Checking the air gap requires a feeler gauge and access rather than diagnostic equipment, which makes it the cheap first step.
