Genuine MAN injection pump for the D2842 LE builds, the 21.9-litre V12. On a twelve-cylinder engine the pump is a large piece of precision equipment with an element for every cylinder, and its condition affects the balance between those cylinders as much as the total fuelling. Uneven delivery between elements produces an engine that runs roughly at light load and develops different exhaust temperatures between cylinders under power — a symptom visible on a pyrometer set long before it is audible. Where an engine has drifted into rough running without a clear fault, a bench test of the pump quantifies what no amount of adjustment on the engine can. This number is also listed remanufactured. On a V12 the cost of a bench test is trivial beside the cost of guessing wrong about twelve elements.
