Genuine MAN injection pump for the D2842 LE builds. The pump's internal components are matched pairs lapped to clearances measured in microns — the plunger and its barrel are ground together and are not interchangeable with any other set. That precision is what allows the pump to generate injection pressure at all, and it is also why the equipment is so intolerant of contamination: a particle that would pass harmlessly through most of the engine is large relative to the clearances here. It is also why injection pumps are overhauled by specialists with the right equipment , short of repaired generally, and why a pump that has ingested debris is usually reconditioned as a unit. That is also why a pump should never be opened for inspection outside a clean facility equipped to close it again properly.
