Genuine MAN injection nozzle for the D2862 LE422. Nozzles are worth replacing as a matched set across an engine for the same reason injectors are: the spray quality of each cylinder contributes to how evenly the engine loads its running gear, and a set with mixed hours produces cylinder-to-cylinder variation that no adjustment elsewhere can correct. On a V12 that means twelve, which sounds like a large order until compared against the labour of reaching them twice. Where the engine is apart for other reasons, nozzles are the inexpensive item that is awkward to revisit later — the classic case for doing it while access is already paid for. The same logic applies to the copper sealing washers underneath them, which are consumable and cost almost nothing beside the labour of reaching them a second time.
