Genuine MAN injector rated to 1,800 bar with a 148-degree spray cone, for the D-Series marine diesels. Those two figures are the injector's identity rather than decoration. The cone angle has to match the shape of the bowl in the piston crown: a spray that is too wide puts fuel on the cylinder wall, where it washes off the oil film and dilutes the sump, and one that is too narrow concentrates heat in the centre of the crown. The pressure rating describes the system the injector was designed for, and it is the reason injectors are not interchangeable between builds that otherwise look similar. Match both figures when cross-referencing rather than relying on physical fit, since an injector of the wrong specification will install perfectly and burn badly.
