Genuine MAN injector for the D-Series marine diesels. Every injector leaks a small, continuous amount of fuel past its internal clearances by design — that leak-off is what lubricates and cools the moving parts inside, and it is returned to the tank through the leak-off line rather than being a fault to chase. What matters in service is the volume: a measured leak-off test compares cylinders against each other, and an injector returning substantially more than its neighbours has worn internal clearances even if it still sprays acceptably. That test is one of the few injector checks that can be done on the engine rather than on a bench, and it is the usual way a marginal injector is identified before it starts misfiring.
