Genuine MAN fluid level probe for the D2862 LE422, 90 grams and 90 mm long. Probes of this type sit in the expansion tank, where they are exposed to coolant chemistry as much as to temperature. Coolant that has been left beyond its service life turns acidic and attacks both the probe and the system it protects, which is one of the quieter arguments for changing coolant on schedule. Inspect the probe's tip when the tank is drained: deposits on it delay the alarm it exists to give.
