Genuine MAN oil cooler for the D2842 LE443 and D2848 LE422. Oil pressure and oil temperature are related in a way that can mislead during diagnosis: a cooler that has become restricted on the oil side raises pressure upstream while reducing flow, so an engine can show apparently healthy oil pressure while delivering less oil to its bearings than it should. Pressure alone is therefore not proof that the oil system is working. Where an engine has both high pressure and high oil temperature, a restricted cooler is among the candidates, and it is one that a pressure gauge alone will never reveal. Fitting an oil temperature gauge where none exists is inexpensive and turns an invisible condition into an observable one.
