Genuine MAN oil cooler seal for the D2840 LE301 and D2848 LE422. Seal material matters as much as dimension on a joint that sees oil on one side and coolant on the other, because the two attack different elastomers — a compound entirely suitable for oil may swell or harden in contact with coolant additives. That is why substituting a seal from general stock on the basis of size alone is a poor idea here even where the dimensions match exactly. The material specification is part of what is being ordered, not an incidental property of the part supplied. Where a seal has to be substituted in an emergency, match the material code as well as the dimension and replace it properly at the first opportunity.
