Genuine MAN driven gear for the oil pump on the D2842 LE443. In a gear pump the driven gear is turned by the drive gear, not by the shaft, and it carries the hydraulic load of the oil being moved around it — which makes its tooth condition and the clearance between its tips and the body directly relevant to delivered pressure. Gears in an oil pump wear slowly under normal conditions and quickly under contaminated ones, so a driven gear showing significant wear is usually reporting on the oil, not on its own hours. Replace gears in matched pairs, never singly, since a new gear meshing with a worn one inherits its pattern. Gear condition is also a cheap early indicator during any sump-off work, even when the pump was not the reason for opening the engine.
