Genuine MAN oil pump for the D2842 LE443, in the 3/2 RAD configuration MAN records against this build. On the larger V12 the pump has more to do than on a six: more bearings to feed, longer galleries to fill, and on many builds piston cooling jets drawing from the same supply. That makes the pump a primary component rather than an auxiliary one, and it makes priming after a rebuild worth doing properly — an engine started with dry galleries runs its bearings without oil for the seconds it takes to fill them, which is the single most damaging moment in a rebuilt engine's life. Prime the system and establish pressure with the fuel shut off before the engine is allowed to fire.
