Genuine MAN terminal box for the oil pump installation on the D2862 LE463 and D2868 LE433. A terminal box is the enclosure where wiring connections are made and protected, and on a marine engine its job is largely environmental — keeping salt-laden air and condensation away from connections that would otherwise corrode. That makes its seals and its cover functional components rather than trim: a box left open, or closed with a damaged gasket, allows exactly the corrosion it exists to prevent, and the resulting faults are intermittent and awkward to trace. Where connections inside have corroded, renew the sealing along with them rather than cleaning the contacts and closing it again. Dielectric grease on the terminals after cleaning is cheap insurance in an engine room that is never genuinely dry, and it costs less than one intermittent fault traced twice.
