Genuine MAN turbocharger common to the D2840 LE301 and the D2848 LE422 — a V10 and a V8 sharing one unit. That is normal where the two engines share a rating band and comparable exhaust volume per bank, since what a turbocharger has to match is the gas flow reaching it rather than the number of cylinders producing that flow. For an operator running a mixed fleet it makes this a sensible number to hold. It also means a unit removed from one engine type is a legitimate spare for the other, which is worth knowing when a boat is waiting on parts. What does not transfer between installations is the oil feed and drain arrangement, so reuse the pipework belonging to the engine being worked on.
