Genuine MAN camshaft for the D2868 LE433, the 90-degree V8 covering 441 to 956 kW. Where an engine model spans a rating range that wide, the valvetrain at the top of it is working considerably harder than at the bottom, and a camshaft removed from a lightly rated engine is not automatically a sensible spare for a heavily rated one even where the number matches. The number is the authority — but the service history behind a used shaft is not, which is the argument for a new camshaft over a second-hand one on an engine near the top of its rating. Measure lift on any used shaft before it goes in, and inspect the lobe faces under good light rather than in an engine room.
