Genuine MAN intake manifold for the D2866 E, 7.46 kg. On an in-line six the manifold is a single casting serving all six ports, so its mating face has to stay true over its whole length. A manifold that has been distorted by uneven tightening will seal at the ends and leak in the middle, and the cylinder affected shows as a slight imbalance rather than as an obvious fault.
