Finding the right ZF gearbox part
Most ZF parts here belong to the reversing gearboxes from the ZF 286 to the ZF 665, plus the W325. Each part lists the gearbox models it fits in its specifications, and the transmissions section groups the parts by gearbox family, so the ZF 550 page shows only what is recorded for the ZF 550 and its variants.
Gear titles carry the tooth count and the ratio: a ZF 286 pinion with z= 34 r= 1,500 is the 34-tooth pinion of the 1.5:1 reduction, and its mating gear has the same r= value. A gearbox can be built with different reductions, so take the ratio from the gearbox plate before ordering gears or a gear kit. Seals, O-rings and bearings have their size in the title.
Trolling valves come as electric, magnet and mechanical versions with their own repair kits. Quote the gearbox type and serial number from the plate when you ask about a part that is not listed.
Genuine ZF, or an alternative where available
Some parts on a marine diesel are also made by OEM suppliers, who produce them for the manufacturer and sell them under their own part numbers. Where an alternative is available, we can quote it separately.
Every part page on this site shows the genuine number and its price. If you would like an alternative quoted, tick the box in the request form or just ask — our catalogue engineers check it by hand, number by number. Brand, compatibility, price, lead time and warranty terms are shown clearly before you order.
