A trapezoidal top compression ring for a 128 mm bore, 3.5 mm high. Its tapered flanks make the ring move radially in its groove with every stroke, and that movement breaks up carbon before it can seize the ring in place. A top ring that has seized in its groove no longer seals and no longer conducts heat away.
