About this part
Genuine MAN valve guide in standard size for the D2840 LE301 and D2866 E. A guide holds the stem square to the seat, and it wears to a bell shape at both ends first, opening up where the stem rocks hardest against it. Once that clearance grows the valve stops landing centrally, and the seat then wears unevenly and begins to leak. Guide clearance is checked with the valve in place and lifted off its seat; if that measurement is out, fitting new valves alone will not cure the oil consumption or the lost compression that follows.
