Genuine MAN alternator rotor for the D2842 LE443, 6.7 kg and 260 mm long — nearly three times the mass of the rotor listed for the D2840, which is a fair measure of the difference in output between the two machines. A rotor of this size is also a balanced rotating assembly: a rotor that has been dropped, or one whose winding has been repaired unevenly, will vibrate at speed and take its bearings with it.
