The critical discipline when one fails is accounting for every vane: pieces that break away travel downstream into the heat exchanger, where they lodge in the tube stack and reduce cooling without producing any other symptom. Count the fragments against the vanes that should be there, and if any are missing, open the exchanger's end cover before running the engine again.
