About this part
Genuine MAN raw water pump for the D2840 and D2842. When a flexible impeller fails, the vanes that break off do not stay in the pump: they travel downstream with the flow and lodge in the first restriction they meet, which is normally the heat exchanger's tube stack. An engine that overheats shortly after an impeller has been replaced is usually telling you the old vanes were never recovered. Count the vanes coming out against the number the new impeller has, and where any are missing, open the heat exchanger end cover and retrieve them rather than hoping. That check adds a few minutes to a routine service and prevents a puzzling overheat weeks later. Keeping the old impeller in the toolbox until the next service makes that count possible a second time, when memory has faded.
