Genuine MAN raw water pump, type KZ 160-IL, for the D-Series including the D2840, D2842 and D2848. Where a pump carries its own manufacturer's type designation alongside the MAN part number, that designation is worth recording in the engine's file. Raw water pumps on marine diesels are frequently bought in by the engine builder from a pump specialist, which means service parts and rebuild kits may be available under the pump maker's numbering as well as under MAN's — useful when a part is on long lead time through one channel and on a shelf through the other. Note the type plate before the pump goes back on, since it is usually unreadable once installed. Photographing it while the pump is on the bench is the version of that record most likely to survive.
