Genuine MAN crankcase assembly for the D2862 LE463 and LE422, the 24.24-litre V12. Where a crankcase is being replaced after a catastrophic failure, everything that shared oil or coolant with the old engine is under suspicion — the cooler, the heat exchanger, the pipework and anything that retained debris. Those components are what turn a correct rebuild into a repeat failure, because they release what they are holding once oil is circulating again. Budget for cleaning or replacing them as part of the job, and treat the cost as part of the crankcase rather than as an optional extra. An oil cooler in particular cannot be cleaned to a reliable standard in situ and is frequently better replaced outright after a major failure.
