Genuine MAN injection pump for the D2866 E, the 11.97-litre in-line six. Injection pumps are calibrated equipment, not assemblies that can be set up by fitting: delivery quantity per element, the balance between elements, and the timing of delivery are all established on a test bench against a specification, and none of them can be verified on the engine. That has two consequences. A pump removed for any reason goes back calibrated, not merely reassembled, and one suspected of causing uneven running is diagnosed on a bench, never by adjustment in situ. Workshops equipped for this work are specialists, and the test sheet they produce is the document worth keeping. Ask for the test sheet with a reconditioned pump; a statement that it was overhauled is not the same thing, since only one of those is evidence.
