Genuine MAN injection nozzle for the D2866 E. A nozzle on its own is the wearing element inside a nozzle holder assembly — the needle, its seat and the drilled holes that form the spray — and it is supplied separately because it is the part that is consumed while the holder around it usually is not. Replacing the nozzle and resetting the assembly's opening pressure restores the unit to specification at a fraction of the cost of a complete holder, which is the normal service route for mechanical injection equipment. It is bench work: the nozzle has to be fitted to the holder, the opening pressure set with shims and the spray pattern verified, none of which can be done on the engine.
