Genuine MAN speed sender for the D2840 LE301, 344 grams — substantially heavier than the senders listed for the later engines, which is typical of the earlier generation of these components. On an engine whose speed signal drives both instrumentation and governing, a failing sender can present as an unstable idle rather than as a gauge fault. Check the signal before adjusting anything on the fuel side. A governor chasing a bad speed reading produces exactly the symptoms a fuel fault produces.
