Genuine MAN oil pump for the D2842 LE443 and D2848 LE422. Oil pressure readings mean little without the context of oil temperature and grade, which is a common source of confusion when an engine is assessed. Pressure falls as oil warms and thins, so a reading taken cold tells you almost nothing, and a reading taken at working temperature on an oil of the wrong viscosity tells you about the oil rather than about the pump. Where pressure appears low, confirm the grade in the engine and the temperature at which the reading was taken before drawing conclusions. A surprising proportion of suspected pump faults resolve into an oil that was never the right specification. Multigrade oils in particular read very differently between a cold morning and an hour under load, and both figures are correct.
