Genuine MAN oil pump for the D2862 LE463 and D2868 LE433. The pump is driven from the engine's gear train, and the drive is a failure point in its own right — separate from the pump's hydraulic condition. A sheared drive, a worn gear or a damaged coupling produces total and immediate loss of pressure rather than the gradual decline that wear produces, and the distinction is diagnostically useful: pressure that disappears suddenly points at the drive, pressure that declines over months points at clearances. Where pressure has been lost abruptly, stop the engine rather than investigating with it running, because the bearings have no protection at all in that condition. Investigating a total pressure loss with the engine running costs bearings by the second, and the diagnosis will keep.
