About this part

Genuine MAN exhaust manifold seal for the water-cooled manifold on the D2842 LE443 and D2848 LE422. A water-cooled manifold is a marine feature with no road equivalent: the jacket keeps the surface temperature down in an enclosed engine space, which is a fire-safety measure as much as a comfort one. It also means the seal separates exhaust gas from coolant in places, so a failure here can put coolant into the exhaust or exhaust pressure into the cooling system — neither of which presents as an ordinary manifold leak.
