About this part
Genuine MAN turbocharger for the D2862 LE3 and LE4 builds. Falling boost is a symptom with more causes outside the turbocharger than in it, which matters because the turbo is the most expensive thing in the chain to replace speculatively. A leaking intercooler or a split charge-air hose produces exactly the profile operators associate with a tired turbo — less power, more smoke, a whistle or hiss under load — while the unit itself is sound. So does a wastegate that has stuck open, which is a separate and much cheaper component. Pressure-test the charge-air system before ordering, and check the wastegate linkage moves freely through its travel. Where the turbocharger genuinely is the fault, the shaft will usually tell you by feel before the gauges do.
