Genuine MAN turbocharger for the D2862 LE3 and LE4 builds. The rotating assembly inside is balanced as a unit at manufacture, to tolerances that matter because of the speeds involved — an imbalance that would be irrelevant on a crankshaft is destructive here. That has a practical consequence for anyone considering a repair, short of replacement: swapping a compressor wheel or a shaft in isolation leaves an unbalanced assembly, and an unbalanced assembly destroys its own bearings quickly. Turbocharger repair is therefore a bench operation with balancing equipment, not a component swap, and is the reason exchange units exist as a category. Where the housing is undamaged and only the core has failed, a remanufactured unit is usually the economic answer rather than a new one.
