About this part

Genuine MAN camshaft for the D2866 LE and LXE20, 30, 40 and 47 builds. Handling a camshaft is less forgiving than it looks. The shaft is long, relatively slender and precisely straight, and it is entirely possible to bend one by supporting it badly — laying it across two points with the weight in the middle, or standing it in a corner where it can lean. Runout of a few hundredths is enough to load bearings unevenly and produce wear that looks like an oil problem. Keep a new shaft in its packing until it goes in, carry it horizontally supported along its length, and where a shaft has been out of a store for a while, check runout in V-blocks before fitting , and not afterwards.
