Genuine MAN water-cooled exhaust elbow for the D2866 LE401. Corrosion in an elbow works from the inside outward, which is the single most important thing to know about the component: a casting that looks entirely sound externally can have lost most of its wall thickness where the water jacket meets the gas passage. There is no external symptom until there is a failure, which is why inspection means removing it and looking inside rather than examining it in place.
