About this part
Genuine MAN gudgeon pin for the D2840 LE301. Pin retention is a detail worth establishing before disassembly , and not during it. Depending on the design, a pin may be a press fit in the rod's small end and float in the piston, or float in both and be retained by circlips at each end of the piston boss. The two require entirely different removal methods, and applying the wrong one — heating and pressing a fully floating assembly, or attempting to drive out an interference-fit pin — damages the piston. Establish which arrangement the engine uses from the manual before anything is dismantled, and where circlips are used, they are renewed every time; reuse is not an option. Circlips are inexpensive and a failed one puts a hardened pin end against the cylinder wall, which ends the liner as well as the piston.
Supplied new, in the manufacturer’s packaging, with our warranty of up to 24 months.
