Genuine MAN electronic field rheostat for the D2862 LE463, D2862 LE422 and D2868 LE433, 98 grams. The electronic version replaces a resistive control with a solid-state regulator, which holds voltage more closely across temperature and load. That matters on a vessel with substantial battery banks: a regulator that drifts with engine room temperature will either undercharge in winter or cook batteries in summer. Where batteries have been replaced with a different chemistry, the regulator's set point may no longer suit them.
