Genuine MAN raw water pump for the D2862 and D2868. Flow is the measurement that tells you whether a cooling system is working, and on a marine engine it is observable without instruments: water leaving the exhaust outlet is the direct evidence that the raw water circuit is moving. An engine that runs at normal temperature is not proof, because a partially restricted circuit can hold temperature at moderate load and fail under sustained power. Where an operator reports overheating only when working hard, the raw water side is the place to start, and pump condition is one of four or five candidates alongside the strainer, the heat exchanger and the exhaust elbow. Establish flow at working load rather than at idle, since a restricted circuit often looks adequate until the engine is asked for power.
