Genuine MAN engine support for the flywheel end of the D2866 E. Engine supports carry the engine's weight and, more importantly, react the torque it produces — every firing stroke tries to rotate the engine about its own crankshaft axis, and the mounts are what prevent it. They also isolate that vibration from the hull. Those two jobs pull in opposite directions, which is why mount specification is a compromise chosen for the installation rather than a matter of strength alone. Where mounts are being renewed, renew them as a set so the engine sits level and the alignment established afterwards holds. Mixed old and new mounts leave the engine sitting unevenly, and no amount of shimming afterwards fully recovers it.
