About this part
Genuine MAN starter ring gear, 160 teeth at module 3, for the D2866 LE401, D2866 E, D2842 LE443 and D2848 LE422. Ring gears are shrink-fitted: the ring is heated evenly until it expands enough to drop over the flywheel rim, then allowed to cool onto it. Even heating is the whole technique — a torch played on one spot will distort the ring and can soften the teeth locally, which shows up as rapid wear on that arc a few hundred starts later.
Supplied new, in the manufacturer’s packaging, with our warranty of up to 24 months.
