Genuine MAN fracture-split connecting rod for the D2866 E, the 11.97-litre in-line six. "Crack conrod" is MAN's own term and describes how the rod is made: the big end is manufactured whole and then deliberately fractured rather than sawn, so the cap and rod re-mate on a unique, interlocking break surface instead of a machined joint. That gives more precise location under load than dowels or a ground face can, and it has a consequence that matters on the bench — a cap belongs to its own rod and to no other, even among rods carrying the same part number. Keep rods and caps paired and marked as they come off, never mix them between cylinders, and never attempt to clean or dress the fracture face, which destroys exactly the feature that locates the joint.
