Genuine MAN piston for the D2840, D2842 and D2848 families. Where one piston number covers several engine layouts, the shared component is the cylinder dimension , and nothing about the engine as a whole — a V8, a V10 and a V12 built around the same bore and stroke use the same piston, and the differences between them lie in how many of those cylinders there are and what is bolted around them. For a yard maintaining several of these engines that consolidates stock usefully. It also means a piston set removed from one engine type is legitimately usable in another, which matters when sourcing for an older build. Confirm bore and stroke against the engine rather than relying on the family name, since that is what the commonality actually rests on.
