Genuine MAN coolant pump seal in the asbestos-free specification, for the D2866 LE401. The designation marks this as the replacement for an earlier specification that contained asbestos — relevant not for the new part but for the old one being removed. On an engine of that age, gasket and seal debris is removed wet rather than dry-scraped, and collected rather than brushed away. The new seal requires none of that care, but the one coming out of a pre-ban engine may.
