Genuine MAN raw water pump for the D2840 and D2842. Winter layup is where more raw water pumps are quietly destroyed than in service. Water left in the pump body freezes and can crack even a bronze casting, and an impeller left compressed against the cam for months takes a set in its vanes that it never fully recovers from. Draining the raw water circuit properly at layup, and either removing the impeller or at least turning the engine so the vanes rest differently, costs very little. Boats that come out of winter with a cooling problem on the first start are usually describing something that happened in November. Note what was done at layup in the engine log, since the person commissioning in spring is often not the person who laid up in autumn.
